A Dragon in the Halls of Diplomacy, 2025
A performance by Nadim Choufi
35 minutes

A poet sends his editor his last poem and tells him to find the monster this poem is written for. „You will know him when you see him.“ The performance follows the editor’s search for the monster through love, poetry, and the halls of diplomacy as the genocide continues.
Across verse, memories, and a Per Krohg mural, the poetic lineage of inhabiting the skins of animals, beasts, and natural elements becomes a language of love and defiance in the face of destruction and dehumanization.

Nadim Choufi is a Lebanese artist based in Rotterdam. His sculptural practice extends into performance, film, and drawing. His work gives form to desires that disrupt the ways states, diplomatic institutions, and other structures of power seek to organize life, while making possible other ways of living, belonging, and relating to the world.
Recent exhibitions include Sculpture Center (New York), A. M. Qattan Foundation (Ramallah), and Cartwright Hall Art Gallery (Bradford).

This performance is supported by the Mondriaan Fund, the public fund for visual art and cultural heritage.
A Reading Of is supported by Senator für Kultur Bremen.
